Quick Hits: Dan Cathy did right. The healthcare form you need. Periodic spices.
Last year, while all of the controversy surrounding Chick-Fil-A was rumbling and roaring, the company’s CEO, Dan Cathy, was responding in the best way his heart could conceive of. He contacted the organizer of the campaign against his company, and started a conversation. An honest, open conversation that covered not just the sources of their struggles with each other’s viewpoints, but also the ways they share common ground. As a result, they became friends and a part of each other’s lives. It’s easy to automatically despise and dismiss your opponent’s arguments when they’re just one more in a faceless mass of “those people.” I applaud Dan Cathy for not accepting the easy road. It was the right thing to do. It’s what a Christian should do.
When I say ‘Christian,’ I mean ‘active follower of Jesus Christ.’ If you attend a church once in a while and use your best recollection of scripture from Sunday School as a guide to pick who to vote for, I’m not talking about you. Sorry.
