There’s an overwhelming mindset in America that people who have completed, at least, a four-year college degree are worth more to society than those people who haven’t. I’ve got two problems with that. First, it is obviously not true. Second, that kind of thinking has made us overestimate the value of that degree. A degree is a good indication of work ethic, but there are few careers out there that actually require a specific degree. That is, unless you get a degree in something incredibly obscure and mostly useless, like the Art of Walking. Before we start racking up a huge student loan debt, we really need to get honest about the money we’re investing in higher education. Who knows, sometimes a two-year degree might actually be the better investment.

- Sixteen and a half years ago, my wife got me a great wedding ring. A lot of the finer details have worn off over the years, but I can’t imagine ever needing to replace it. Still, I might just consider making a change for this ring. Amazing.
